What is the Fitness Network?
The National Fitness Network (NFN) was established in 1990 to offer employees and managed care plan members affordable, convenient access to health clubs, with the goal of encouraging and facilitating healthier lifestyles. The program is available to individuals exclusively through employers, health plan providers and associations.
Physical inactivity and its associated health problems have substantial economic consequences for the U.S. health care system. Physically inactive employees are at both medical and financial risk for many chronic diseases and conditions including heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes, obesity, and osteoporosis. In 2000, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services report estimated that the total cost of overweight and obesity was $117 billion.
Preventive Health Services Integrated
The National Fitness Network offers employee benefits designed to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and other adverse health conditions directly related to physical inactivity. The National Fitness Network Program draws on the experience and relationships of its associates in both the health insurance and health and wellness field to deliver effective, turnkey programs that encourage people to be more involved in managing their own health.
National Fitness Network designed for the employer or health insurer who understands the value of healthy employees/members and is concerned about lowering healthcare utilization. Our product offerings are a perfect compliment to consumer directed health plans (HRA/HSA), partial self-insured plans, as well as fully self-insured health insurance programs.
